Carol Miller is State Champion Auctioneer

Carol Miller of Bailey's Honor Auction Service, Oconomowoc, was selected the 2010 State Champion Auctioneer at the Wisconsin State Fair.  "I'm so proud and humbled to be named the champion auctioneer," she said.  "It's a great honor for me to be the first woman to hold the title."

Bailey's Honor, named after Emma Bailey, the first woman auctioneer, specializes in antiques, collectibles and real estate at auction.  Founded in 1993, Bailey's Honor is a full service aucton company known for a service-oriented philosophy, use of technology, and commitment to providing customers an honest and satisfying auction experience. 

A panel of five professional auctioneers judged the contestants in three categories: presentation, chant/voice and effective auctioneering. All contestants were interviewed by the judges earlier in the day and Carol also won the trophy for the best interview score.  Randy Stockwell of Dorchester was named Reserve Champion, and Carol Wagenson of New Lisbon was First Runner-Up. Rounding out the Top Six were Dave Koning of Monroe, Bill Cain of Plymouth, and Ray Henry of Foley, MN.

Carol graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degreee from UW LaCrosse, she worked in physical rehab for six years. She attended World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa, in 1993. Her husband Todd is a systems engineer for Aurora Healthcare and they have two daughters, Allison and Lynzie, both students at the University of Wisconsin. Her mother lives in Menomonee Falls but her father passed away about 12 years ago. "He would have really loved this," she says fondly.  Carol is a member of Westbrook Church.
 
"I look forward to being an ambassador for the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association and the auction method of marketing in the coming year," said Carol.  She will advance to the International Contest next July in Orlando, FL.  Carol was sponsored by Auction Action News of Shawano.  She is Vice President of the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association and is available for interviews and personal appearances at media events to promote the WAA and the auction method.
